Note that many people will remember the popular TV series of the same name that was made with William Bendix in the starring role, but few know that in the 1948 - 1950 version of the show, a very young Jackie Gleason played the title role of Chester C. Riley (Bendix had starred in the long-running radio show version, but his movie contract prevented him from starring in the TV show, but after Gleason's version was canceled, Bendix came free and was signed to make a new TV version, which was a major hit)!
