An Autographed 3" x 4 1/2" [8 x 11 cm] Cut Album Page (glued to a piece of paper that measures 4 1/2" x 6") (Learn More)

Thomas Nast was a legendary German-born American cartoonist and caricaturist from the 1840s to the 1900s, considered the "Father of the American Cartoon". He popularized Uncle Sam, Columbia (the female personification of American values) and the Democratic donkey! He passed away in 1902 at the age of 62.
Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by Thomas Nast! The cut album page was glued to a piece of paper that measures 4 1/2" x 6". It could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display!

Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 36 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. In our last auction, we auctioned around 90 items from this same consignor. Now we are auctioning the last of this wonderful collection, and after this, there will be no more left to auction!

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: very good. The signature is on a small sheet of paper, which has been glued onto a larger sheet of paper on the back of each corner. The smaller sheet could be removed (and/or trimmed) from the larger sheet and then be displayed in a different way, and it will display great!
