Date Sold 12/15/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Babe Comes Home, the 1927 Ted Wilde silent Los Angeles Angels baseball sports romantic comedy ("Adapted from Gerald Beaumont's 'Said with Soap'"; The Babe is a star player for the minor league Los Angeles Angels, but he chews tobacco and gets his uniforms badly stained, and a girl comes from the laundry to complain to him about it, and naturally, he falls in love with her, but when she reforms him, he goes in a slump, but fortunately she returns during a crucial game when he is at bat in the 9th inning with the bases loaded, and she throws him a plug of tobacco from the stands, which gives him the incentive to hit the winning home run!) starring Babe Ruth (the most famous baseball player of all time, in one of the three movies he was in!), Anna Q. Nilsson, Louise Fazenda ("By arrangement with Christy Walsh"), Ethel Shannon, Arthur Stone, and Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams. Note that Babe Ruth had appeared in a movie in 1920 (called "Headin' Home"), but this was the only other feature movie he appeared in as the star! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper of any kind from this Babe Ruth movie is incredibly rare, and this is the only deluxe still we have ever auctioned! Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]. It likely originally measured 11" x 14", but we don't know, because we have never seen another example, and likely never will! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock, and it has a typed description on the back (surely from the studio) that is partially obscured by the paper residue on the back from when the still was glued to an album page, but it reads "'BABE COMES HOME' --- Dusty Dugan gets tidings from his laundry girlfriend from the delivery man". See our images of the front and back of this great still. Condition: good to very good. Parts of the blank borders were trimmed off, but only blank white paper was affected. The still was glued to an album page and later removed, and there is paper residue on the back (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
