An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]) (Learn More) Dorothy Mackaill was an English actress from the 1920s to the 1980s. She was born in England in 1903, and her parents divorced when she was 11, and she lived with her father for a few years and then ran away from home to London, where her father paid for her living expenses, and she became a chorus girl, first in London, then in Paris! She moved to New York where she got a job with the Ziegfeld Follies and she was befriended by star Marion Davies. She moved to Hollywood when she was 18, and was a star by the time she was 21. The coming of sound helped end her career, although she had a few good talking roles in the early 1930s. By the mid 1930s, her career was pretty much over, and after one final appearance in 1937, she retired and spent her days taking care of her invalid mother, and she passed away in 1990 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Dorothy Mackaill! Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and a picture of two interior two-page spreads (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 4 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who has been a collector of movie memorabilia for many years. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together some of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of these 5 autographed items we are auctioning were purchased by this collector either from longtime dealers or other collectors, and we feel it is certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 5 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good to fine. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
