eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6b218 SECOND HUNDRED YEARS LC 1927 disguised Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy taken back to jail, rare! Date Sold 5/1/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Second Hundred Years (also released as "The Second One Hundred Years"), the 1927 Fred Guiol silent screwball prison crime comedy (produced by Hal Roach; Stan and Ollie are hapless convicts who tunnel out of their cell, but instead of getting to freedom, they end up in the warden's office; after they finally escape, they then steal the clothes of visiting dignitaries, and they are mistaken for them, and they are delivered back to the prison, to give a speech) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), James Finlayson, Charlie Hall, Otto Fries, and Dorothy Coburn. Note that this was Laurel and Hardy's first movie for MGM, and for the first time, they were not "Stan" and "Ollie", but were instead named "Big Goofy" and "Little Goofy". Also, they had their heads shaved for this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single 8x10 still from this movie until we received this lobby card! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card has light rippling down the center, but it is more "felt" than seen. It has many faint stains around the edges, but they are primarily in the borders. There are tiny pinholes in each corner. There is water staining scattered on the back of the card that does not show through to the front. This card was discovered decades ago, before modern expert restoration techniques existed. This is the sort of card that responds really well to modern day professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the stains and rippling can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic, and I urge the new owner of this card to have this done immediately.
