An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Tom and Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl, the 1950 Joseph Barbera & William Hanna (Hanna-Barbera) Tom & Jerry cat-and-mouse chase animated animation cartoon comedy short (produced by Fred Quimby; with the classical "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss, and also a Liszt concerto; Tom is conducting a symphony at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, and naturally, Jerry wants to participate as well) starring Tom and Jerry (the famous feline cat & mouse team). Note that Hanna-Barbera had great success with "The Cat Concerto" in 1947, and this cartoon is very similar, and many fans of Tom and Jerry consider both of these to be two of the very best entries in the series. Also note that Tom and Jerry is a classic series of cartoons created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The first one was created in 1940, and there as a total of 114 cartoons through 1957. Seven of these won Academy Awards for Best Cartoon, tying for most wins with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies. There were around 50 more cartoons created after the first run ended, through the early 2000s, and there were also TV shows based on these classic characters. Some people have criticized the cartoons for their "excessive violence", but actually no blood or gore was ever shown in any of them, and this type of violence is commonly referred to as "cartoon violence". Many of the Tom and Jerry cartoons are extremely clever and make wonderful use of music. They are not nearly as appreciated today as they should be, but in their day, they were among the most popular cartoons of the 1940s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small tears and tiny paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold. It had very minor wear on the folds. The top and bottom 2" of the poster were folded back at one time, and there were diagonal creases in the corners, with pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
