An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" [9 x 14 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Broadway Nights, the 1927 Joseph C. Boyle silent New York City theater stage acting romantic gambling melodrama ("From the original story by Norman Houston"; about a pretty young singer/dancer who gets hooked up with a handsome young emcee, who has a serious gambling problem, and they get married and have a kid, but he loses all their money gambling, and she leaves him to take a performing job, but her career flops until she finds a great new show, which, oddly enough, her estranged husband wrote the music for!; an interesting oddity of this movie is that the producers hired real life chorus girls and the real Texas Guinan to play themselves in the movie, including three great future stars in their first appearance, and it makes me desperately wish I could see the set of lobby cards!) starring Lois Wilson, Sam Hardy, Louis John Bartels, Phillip Strange, Sylvia Sidney, Barbara Stanwyck (she was a 20 year old chorus girl in New York, and like Sidney, she had a bit part here as a fan dancer, and it wasn't until two years later that she had her first real movie role!), and Ann Sothern (she was 18 years old, and like Sidney, she had a bit part here as a fan dancer, her first movie appearance!). Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this herald! Note that we were recently consigned an excellent collection of heralds! We auctioned the first 30 of these in our April Major Auction, and all but four of those sold for between $2,012 and $110! Now we continue with another 30 heralds from this collection (in 30 separate auctions), and we will continue auctioning 30 of them every four weeks until they are all auctioned. There is only one of each herald, and many of them are quite rare, so if you don't purchase one, it may be many years before you see it at auction again! Condition: very good.
