Date Sold 11/2/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Deluxe 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Still (Learn More) The Cat and the Canary, the 1939 Elliott Nugent romantic horror mystery comedy ("The picture that will give your goose pimples goose pimples!"; "Chills, horrors and lots of fun!"; "Based on the Stage Play by John Willard") starring Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard, John Beal, Douglass Montgomery, Gale Sondergaard, Elizabeth Patterson, George Zucco, William Abbey (as "The Cat", a homicidal maniac!), and Nydia Westman. Note that this was a remake of the 1927 movie of the same name directed by Paul Leni, except that it has had comedy injected, to make a suitable movie for Bob Hope! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: We would assume that this wonderful candid still was created as a Halloween tie-in, as a special way to promote the movie (which makes sense, because it opened November 10, 1939, ten days after Halloween. We have never auctioned this great still before! Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Condition: good to very good. The still was in a frame and there is glue and slight paper residue on the back of each corner. There is slight discoloration in the front of the still in the corners, and there is light rippling in the top border (see our images). But it definitely will display wonderfully exactly as it is!
