An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 3/4") (Learn More) Madame de... (released in the U.S. as "The Earrings of Madame De..."), the classic 1953 Max Ophuls French/Italian Paris France romantic love triangle melodrama (a very clever story of a woman who is given an expensive pair of earrings by her husband, and she sells them to pay her debts, but the husband buys them back but does not inform her, and then he gives them to his lover, and the earrings are the focal point of a circular plot involving the married couple and their lovers) starring Charles Boyer, Danielle Darrieux, Vittorio De Sica, Jean Debucourt, and Jean Galland. Note that the movie originally had an ending that showed the earrings passing on to a new woman who presumably will become the new "Madame de...", but director Ophuls felt it weakened the movie, and he had that part of the ending cut from the movie before it was released. Also note that Charles Boyer started as an actor in French movies in 1921 at the age of 22. He made his first American movie, The Magnificent Lie, in 1931, but his greatest success came in the 1940s! Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this partially French movie! Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
