An Original Vintage Movie Program Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Interference, the 1928 Roy Pomeroy romantic mistaken identity melodrama ("Paramount's first all-talking entertainment"; "A Paramount All-Talking Picture"; "Based upon a Lothar Mendes production from the play by Roland Petwee and Harold Dearden and screen play by Hope Loring"; an interesting story of a man who is reported killed, and he uses the opportunity to start life over; but his wife thinks he is dead and remarries; a former female friend of his finds him, and decides to blackmail the wife, who has remarried a rich English Lord; the man finds out he is terminally ill, and he kills the blackmailer, which allows his former wife to have happiness) starring Evelyn Brent, Clive Brook, Doris Kenyon, William Powell, and Tom Ricketts. Note that this movie was Paramount's very first all-talking feature film. As was common around the advent of sound films, a silent version was filmed at the same time by Lothar Mendes. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Adolph Zukor, Jesse L. Lasky, Samuel Goldwyn, Monta Bell, Rubye de Remer, and there is one more signature that looks like "Paul Hirsch", but is pretty hard to read (if anyone knows who this is, please e-mail us and we will post it here). Note that this was a special program for the premiere of this movie in New York City where Ruth Etting and Eddie Cantor both sang songs, and Daniel Frohman gave an address of welcome (Paramount made a big deal of it because of it being their first talking picture, but oddly, the program was printed on a paper similar to that which grocery bags are made out of! The program comes with a certificate of authenticity. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 25 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these 26 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 26 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. UPDATED 10/20/2010: Note that the Certificate of Authenticity lists one of the autographs as Monte Bell when it is obviously Monta Bell who was a writer, director and producer in the early years of cinema. Condition: good to very good. The program was roughly folded across the middle and it was attached to a binder with three punch holes in the left (and the punch holes affect the word "Program" on the interior).
