Note that the lead actresses portray singers in the movie and that their band is called "The Carrie Nations" (after the famous feminist). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor tells us that this script is a very special one for this movie, because it is one of two copies that were made specifically for budgeting the movie. One was given to Frank Mattisson, who was a longtime Warner Bros. production manager, and we can't read the name of the person that the other one was given to, but there is a stamp on the cover with both names (see our image). Our consignor wrote to Mr. Ebert while he was still alive and offered to give it to him, but Mr. Ebert misunderstood that it was an original studio script, and replied that he had his own copy of the script (likely his original typewritten copy!), and he suggested our consignor sell it, since it would sell for a lot of money (he wrote "Your offer is so kind, but since I have a copy, why don't you sell it and enjoy the cash?"!). So our consignor is doing just that, and not only is this a rare first draft script from September 17, 1969, but it is also one of just two scripts created for the budgeting, as noted above. Clearly, the person who had this script went through it very carefully, because there are many pages where sections have a note next to them. Also note that the script was clearly heavily rewritten, because a very large number of the pages are from either the 9/30 rewrite or the 10/27 rewrite, and only a tiny number remain from the original 9/17 version. (although they include most of the final scene, including the epilogue). Note that this script is the revised first draft from September 17, 1969 and the screenplay was written by Roger Ebert. Condition: very good. The covers are printed with paper that is larger than the interior pages, so they are creased in those excess areas, very typical of scripts of this period.
