Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27" x 39") (Learn More) Superman, the 1941 - 1943 Dave Fleischer animated animation comic book superhero cartoon adventure shorts series (created just three years after Superman's debut!) featuring the voices of Bud Collyer (in the title role as Superman/Clark Kent), Joan Alexander (as Lois Lane), Jack Mercer, and Jackson Beck (as Perry White). Note that Dave Fleischer (along with his brother Max) were legends and pioneers in animated films. They made the very first sound cartoon in 1924, beating Walt Disney by several years. They had great success with their Out of the Inkwell cartoons, Popeye, Betty Boop, and much more, including the Superman cartoons, widely regarded as the finest cartoons ever made! But after Walt Disney made Snow White, the Fleischers made Gulliver's Travels, which did not do well at the box office, and their next major project, Mr. Bug Goes To Town, had the bad fortune to be released two days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and it also did poorly. At this same time, the Fleischer brothers had a major falling out, and in 1942, they split completely. After they made the last of their Superman cartoons, Paramount seized control of their studio. Each of the brothers made a few more cartoons, but their careers were essentially over. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Swedish poster measures 27" x 39" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. the poster was linenbacked; prior to restoration the poster had a 4" tear at the top center of the poster in the black background and a 2" tear in the black background at top right 3" from the top right corner; there was a 1" tear in the right of the bottom border; there was some minor discoloration down the center of Superman's chest and some minor scuffing throughout the poster (but since the poster was created with an intentional sort of "scuffed" look, it is difficult to know what is part of the printing and what, if anything, is an added scuff mark); the poster was well linenbacked, and this great image of Superman is really very striking!
