An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 62 3/4") (Learn More) Les Diaboliques (released in the U.S. as "Henri-Georges Clouzot's Diabolique" and in other English-speaking countries as "The Fiends"), the 1955 Henri-Georges Clouzot ("France's master of suspense") French romantic love triangle crime murder mystery suspense horror thriller ("Don't Reveal the Ending!"; "An Extraordinary New Motion Picture"; "Important: During the entire engagement no one will be seated in the theatre once the main feature has begun. Please observe the Time Feature Schedule carefully."; based on the novel by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac) starring Simone Signoret, Vera Clouzot, Paul Meurisse, Charles Vanel, Jean Brochard, Noel Roquevert, and Pierre Larquey. Note that Alfred Hitchcock wanted to buy the film rights to the source novel for this film, but Clouzot beat him to the punch. The authors subsequently wrote "D'Entre Les Morts", and Hitchcock filmed it as 1958's Vertigo! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, for the original French release of this film, there were two different posters printed. One was made for use in Paris only (likely for the premiere of the film, much like a U.S. "roadshow" poster). The other poster was made for the general release in the rest of France. The poster offered here is from that general release (which also makes it a rare "country of origin" poster for this French movie), but all the experts we know agree it is still from the first release in France. The main difference between the two posters is a difference in coloring (although there may be other small differences). Please do NOT bid on this poster if you only want the first release from the Paris showing, as this is the poster from the general French release. Condition: good to very good. There are several small tape repairs on the back of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
