An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 16 3/4") (Learn More) Edison, The Man, the 1940 Clarence Brown historical biographical melodrama sequel ("Spencer Tracy's Greatest Performance"; about the recollections of the famous inventor Thomas Edison; a sequel of sorts to "Young Tom Edison", and of course, highly fictionalized) starring Spencer Tracy (in the title role as Thomas Edison; "His Greatest performance! Thrilling! Dramatic!"), Rita Johnson, Lynne Overman, Charles Coburn, Gene Lockhart, Henry Travers, and Felix Bressart NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and now measures 14" x 16 3/4". Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair to good. The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). Most collectors do not consider it to be a significant defect at all, since only blank white paper is lost, and the window card becomes easier to frame. There are some pinholes and nail holes around the edges of the card, including two in the hair of the stars at bottom left. There are stains in the bottom right corner and some in the upper right in the forehead and cheek of Tracy. There is paper loss in the bottom right corner and a tear and paper loss in the lower right border, and there is a piece of tape on the back of that area. Note that it looks like the left, right, and bottom borders might have been trimmed, but actually, they were printed with a "full bleed", something MGM was doing at the time, which means there were no white borders when the card was printed (although the top blank area has been neatly trimmed off).
