An Unfolded German Advertising Poster (measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Bilgeri Ski Ausrustung (literally translates to "Bilgeri Ski Equipment"), the 1910s German advertising poster promoting Bilgeri-Werk products, and featuring Carl Kunst art of skiing equipment with a beautiful snow-covered alpine background showing the world famous Matterhorn. In 1902 Colonel George Bilgeri, an officer in the Austrian army, began large-scale production of skis. This poster is highlighting Bilgeri's newest improvements (new bindings and the use of two poles). Note that Carl Kunst was a Munich artist often called a predecessor of 1960's pop art color use, and the use of limited color (golden yellow against purple tones) and simplified naturalism seen on this poster are a direct influence from the Munich School, and tie in very closely to more contemporary styles.
