An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Beyond the Rocks, the 1922 Sam Wood silent romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the novel by Elinor Glyn; a wild story of a poor English girl who marries a wealthy elderly man to help her father, but while mountain climbing, she is rescued by a dashing young man who she immediately falls in love with, but he doesn't want to break up her marriage, so he leaves; later, they meet by chance, and realize they are still in love, but she writes a letter to him saying how much she loves him but that they can't be together, and a former girlfriend of her young lover intercepts the letter and sends it to her husband instead; but the husband realizes that he doesn't want to stand in their way, so he goes exploring in Arabia, and is fatally wounded, and before he dies, he gives his blessing to his wife and her boyfriend!) starring Gloria Swanson, Rudolph Valentino (billed as "Rodolph Valentino"), Edythe Chapman, Alec B. Francis, and Robert Bolder. Note that this was Valentino's second movie after "The Sheik", and it was released just six months later, so it was likely in production when "The Sheik" was being made. Consequently, he was second billed on the posters ("with Rodolph Valentino"), and he was still billed under his real name of "Rodolph", and he wasn't even mentioned on the title card. Just a few months later, he became the number one male star, fully on par with Swanson! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The card was lightly folded down the middle and there are some faint smudges and stains around the edges. There is a crease in the right of the top blank border. The card has been laying flat for a long time, and the crease is hardly noticeable from the front, and is not really distracting at all. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
