An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12 1/4" x 15" [31 x 38 cm]; 4 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 2 pages. (Learn More)

The Blob, the 1958 Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr. science fiction (sci-fi) horror comedy thriller ("The Indestructible creature! The Blob"; "Bloated with the blood of its victims!"; "The management of this theatre disclaims any responsibility for heart attacks or damage to nerves."; "Certified"; "In Color!"; "Indescribable... Indestructible! Nothing can stop it!"; "It's indescribable! It's indestructible! Nothing... can stop it!"; "From an idea by Irvine H. Millgate") starring Steve McQueen (very young in this role; billed here as "Steven McQueen"), Aneta Corsaut (billed as "Aneta Corseaut" on the first release posters), Earl Rowe, Olin Howlin, Stephen Chase, John Benson, and George Karas. Note that the music for the title song for this movie was written by Burt Bacharach! Note that even though Steve McQueen was top billed in this movie, he was not yet known to the general public, and his image was not used on the posters (which DO have great art of the blob monster engulfing the townspeople).
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this movie was quite a low budget production and it has a correspondingly low budget pressbook! The posters are not on the back as is standard, but the inside back cover has one-third of the page that pictures the one-sheet, three-sheet, and six-sheet! Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Because this pressbook is folded, it will be sent in a standard flat package for our flat rate shipping cost.

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook was folded down the middle at one time. There are tears around the edges of the covers and 3" of separation at one end of the foldline on the front and back covers.
