An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13" x 30" [33 x 76 cm]) (Learn More)

Universal Pictures, the 1950s Australian stock poster for theaters showing Universal Pictures films (first release and re-releases). Theaters would order this poster which had a large blank area for the title of the film being shown. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, sometimes they sent paper snipes with the specific titles, and sometimes theater-owners simply wrote the title of the films in the blank area.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this stock Australian daybill, which was overprinted with the title and credits for The Redhead from Wyoming, the 1953 Lee Sholem romantic cowboy western ("She had a weapon for every kind of man... A loaded gun... A ready kiss!"; "Outlaw queen of a renegade lair... Trading in stolen cattle... And hunted men!") starring Maureen O'Hara (in the title role), Alex Nicol, Robert Strauss, Jeanne Cooper, William Bishop, and Alexander Scourby

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had some tears and paper loss in the left border, with a little extending into the top left of the "W" of "WYOMING". It had some wear on the folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
