You know nothing about wickedness.'"; "I didn't want money... she knew that when I went to work for her!"; "Soon everyone will know the Lady from Shanghai - Be sure to meet her!"; "Exciting story of a reckless & notorious woman of the world!"; "Story of a reckless woman!"; "Screenplay and Production by Orson Welles"; about an ordinary seaman who sees a beautiful woman on a yacht and gets a job on it so he can be near her, and he ends up involved in a complicated murder plot) starring Rita Hayworth, Orson Welles, Everett Sloane, Glenn Anders, Ted de Corsia, and Evelyn Ellis. Note that director/star Orson Welles was married to Rita Hayworth, and he co-wrote this screenplay as a way for him to star opposite her! Also note that this movie was originally filmed in 1946, but it was not released in the U.S. at that time. It was finally released in France in December 1947, and at that time, U.S. posters were printed with 1947 NSS numbers, but it did not finally open in the U.S. until 1948! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that was 26 years ago, when it sold for $3,220! It certainly is FAR more rare than the one-sheet from this title, and is one of the most difficult inserts to obtain from the late 1940s. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some light creases scattered throughout due to being slightly roughly handled while it was rolled. It has faint smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the light-colored background areas and slight darkening in the extreme outer edge of the right and bottom borders. This great poster displays really well as it is, or certainly one could choose to have some restoration performed, either with or without backing the poster. Either way, the winner of this auction will have a wonderful and rare poster to display on their wall. Learn More about condition grades
