A Vintage English Hardcover Book (measures 7 1/2" x 10" [19 x 25 cm]; 44 pages) (Learn More) Films Of The Year 1927-1928, the 1928 Robert Herring English illustrated book featuring an essay on the development of film-making, and 32 duotone photographic plates. This book includes images from a number of very historic movies from these two years, and also ones that are completely forgotten now (but should not be!), and they are the sorts of movies on which it is nearly impossible to find ANY movie paper of any kind! The titles include F.W. Murnau's Faust (2 pages), The Marriage of the Bear (2 pages), The Waltz Dream (2 pages), Student of Prague (2 pages), Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger (1 page), Seventh Heaven (3 pages), The Scarlet Letter (1 page), Ben-Hur (1 page), Prince Achmed (1 page), Cinderella (2 pages), Rex Ingram's The Magician (1 page), Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1 page), G.W. Pabst's Liebe Der Jeanne Ney (1 page), Francis Bruguiere's The Way (2 pages), Man Ray's Emak Bakia (2 pages), and Charlie Chaplin's The Circus (1 page). Our consignor also purchased a deluxe 8x10 still which seems to be the exact still that was reproduced in the book! On the back of it, it has "Plate 8 in 'Films of the Year' written in pen and under it is author Robert Herring's name and address! So we can't say for certain, but it would sure seem likely that Herring purchased this still and then used it for his book. The winning bidder of the book will also receive this original vintage deluxe still from "Student of Prague", which shows Conrad Veidt. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Note: We have 18 images of this book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 18 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 8. Condition: very good. The book is in pretty nice condition. The still has a piece of tape and a black mark over something in the bottom right corner (we don't know if it was printing or something else). Learn More about condition grades
