Can Batman escape?"; "Daring in action! Carrol Naish (who plays the Asian villain, Dr. Tito Daka!), Shirley Patterson, William Austin (as Alfred), and Charles C. Wilson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Glenn Cravath Important Added Info: Note that the regular first release English language one-sheet for this serial is extremely rare (we have only auctioned four examples, and only one in the last 19 years). But poster material of any kind from this Spanish/U.S. release is beyond rare! This first release one-sheet is the only Spanish/U.S. item we have ever auctioned! Note that this one-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). Finally, note that this poster has a large blank area at middle left (and cleverly, Batman is holding it up!). Theaters would either overprint this area with information about the chapter they were currently showing, or they could attach a snipe to those area. In the case of this poster, that area is blank. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of many folds, with pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges and pinholes and stains scattered in the blank rectangle area. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer painted over much of the borders and parts of the rectangular white area, and you can clearly tell this extremely rare poster has had restoration.
