Wells classic produced by George Pal, best sci-fi artwork! Date Sold 11/3/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 11 1/2" x 18 3/4") (Learn More) H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, the classic 1953 Byron Haskin science fiction (sci-fi) Martian extraterrestrial alien invasion action thriller ("From the ends of the universe... they are reaching for YOU!"; produced by George Pal; loosely based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells; about seemingly unstoppable aliens invading the Earth) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Lewis Martin, and Ann Codee NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and it now measures 11 1/2" x 18 3/4". Also note that this window card was folded in half, and because it was folded perfectly in half, it can be sent in one of our standard size mailers. If it is purchased by itself (or solely with other posters that can be sent in standard size mailers), it will be sent that way. But if it is purchased with posters that need to be sent in oversized mailers, then we will of course send it that way. Condition: fair to good. The window card was trimmed on all four sides, but only blank white paper was affected. It was displayed on a wall with thumb tacks in each corner and a piece of tape in the top right corner. It was folded across the original middle and there are rough creases along that fold with some extra creases and a tear in the middle left of the card. The entire card has darkened. Obviously, this card has significant defects, but you still could put the card on the wall as it is and enjoy it (our consignor had it that way for many years). It is also true that a talented restorer could paperback the card and repair its defects, after which the card would look great, but that process will be somewhat expensive, so bear the above in mind before placing a bid on this card!
