Date Sold 9/21/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 11 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) The Way of All Flesh, the 1940 Louis King romantic love triangle melodrama ("Based on a story by Lajos Biro and Jules Furthman"; about a middle-aged bank cashier with a wife and family who runs off and has sordid affairs, and becomes destitute) starring Akim Tamiroff, Gladys George, William Henry, Muriel Angelus, Darryl Hickman, and June Hedin. Note that there were two earlier versions of this movie. It was filmed in 1918 by Cecil B. DeMille as "The Whispering Chorus" and in 1927 under the same title. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 11 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us! So they are original stills from 1940, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. Some of the stills have a piece of tape on the back of each edge (not put there for any restoration purpose) that has caused slight discoloration to the front. One still (not pictured) has a crease at upper right (repaired with tape from the back). Learn More about condition grades
