An Original Vintage Autographed Piece of Concept Art (measures 23" x 28" [58 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Nelson Eddy was a successful singing actor during the late 1930s and early to mid 1940s. He came from a family of singers and musicians, and he studied music and gave his first concert recital in 1928. In 1933, after much success as a professional singer, Louis B. Mayer signed him to a 7 year MGM contract. In 1935, he made "Naughty Marietta" with Jeanette MacDonald, and it was a huge success, and they made several more movies, including "Rose-Marie" and "Maytime". Toward the end of his career, he performed in nightclubs and on the radio. His most famous movies were the ones he made with Jeanette MacDonald, but he appeared in several other movies, including the 1943 version of "Phantom of the Opera". He demonstrated his great singing ability in 1940's "New Moon", especially with his rendition of "Stout-Hearted Men"! He passed away in 1967, at the age of 65.
Artist: Leslie
Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by the artist "Leslie"! Both our consignor and we tried and failed to find more information about this artist, or about this newspaper page "Star O Scope". It seems most likely that it was intended to be a series like "Seeing Stars", a popular newspaper page of the 1930s. Because we could find no reference to this, we suspect that this was a proposed series that never actually materialized. Offered here is the actual original art, drawn and hand-lettered by the artist Leslie. It has been very nicely matted and shrinkwrapped and it could either be either displayed as it is or framed! If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good. The art has some darkening and smudges around the edges. It was very nicely matted and shrinkwrapped (see above).
