An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 20 1/2" x 27" [52 x 69 cm]) (Learn More) Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus, the 1950s circus poster featuring artwork of a circus act by Maxwell Frederic Copelan. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss on each corner and a tiny scuff in the middle right background area, but otherwise, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
