An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Free Wheeling, the 1932 Robert McGowan Our Gang juvenile comedy short (story by Hal Roach, who was also a producer; about a "rich kid" whose parents don't want him to play with Stymie and the other street kids, but he plays with them anyway, and he ends up in the kids' "taxi", which is a mule with a bucket strapped to it, and the mule starts running down the street, and Stymie saves him) starring Matthew 'Stymie' Beard, Dorothy DeBorba, Kendall McComas, George 'Spanky' McFarland, Dickie Moore, and Jackie Lyn Dufton (billed as "Jacquie Lyn"). Note that Dickie Moore was a successful child actor of the early 1930s in mainstream Hollywood productions, but he also appeared in several Our Gang movies of the early 1930s (in this one, he played the "rich kid" who wants to play with the tough Our Gang kids). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned this poster once before (in 2015, when it auctioned for $953), and that poster has been re-consigned to us, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! Note that this poster has a great stone litho showing Sytmie, Spanky, Dickie Moore, and other Our Gang members climbing on a mule. Also note that almost all Our Gang first release one-sheets are extremely rare. But the ones from the sound movies of the 1930s are far more rare than those from the silent movies of the 1920s (although the silent ones are themselves quite rare!). The likely reason for this is that in the 1920s, many movies were short subjects (only one or two reels), so most theaters probably exhibited posters from several of the ones they were showing, including probably the Our Gangs, which were quite popular. But in the middle 1930s, just about all movies were feature length, and movies showed either one or two features, and they likely didn't display posters for the shorts they were showing, which would likely explain the unbelievable rarity of 1930s Our Gang one-sheets!
