An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Angels in the Outfield (released in other English-speaking countries as "Angels and the Pirates"), the 1951 Clarence Brown baseball sports fantasy melodrama ("MGM presents a new and wonderful picture for the millions who loved 'The Stratton Story'"; "The roughest guy you ever met.. ...until an angel said 'Hello!'"; "A tough guy named Guffy...and the angel in his life!"; "Based on a Story by Richard Conlin") starring Paul Douglas, Janet Leigh (very young in this role!), Keenan Wynn, Lewis Stone, Spring Byington, Bruce Bennett, Donna Corcoran, and cameo appearances by greats Ty Cobb, Bing Crosby, Joe DiMaggio, and Harry Ruby NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that MGM was obviously afraid of marketing this movie as a "baseball movie", and this poster shows a large image of Paul Douglas and sexiest Janet Leigh, and the taglines completely mislead the viewer into thinking that Janet Leigh is an angel, and that this is some kind of romantic ghost story! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had two horizontal folds and two vertical folds across and down the center. There was tiny paper loss at the crossfold and many creases and scuffs on both foldlines. It had some scuffs and smudges scattered in the image, with some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and there had been paper loss in the last three numbers of the NSS number at lower right, and the restorer apparently guessed at those numbers, and he guessed wrong, because he put "51/395" instead of "51/471".
