An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 28" x 41 1/2") (Learn More)

Maria De La O, the 1939 (released in the U.S. in 1942) Francisco Elias Spanish dancing dance musical starring Carmen Amaya (in the title role as Maria de la O), Antonio Moreno, Pastora Imperio, Julio Pena, and Rosario Rojas. Note that Carmen Amaya was one of Spain's most revered flamenco dancers and singers, who made her flamenco debut in 1919, at the age of 6! She took Spain by storm, and the next year had a triumphant engagement in Paris. In 1941 she performed in the U.S. at Carnegie Hall, and was invited to perform at the White House by President Franklin D. Roosevelt! No doubt that caused Columbia Pictures to distributed this movie in the U.S., three years after it was made, and we know they distributed it in Spanish speaking areas in Spanish, but we don't know if it also had an English language release by Columbia. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This Argentinean poster has been slightly trimmed and measures 28" x 41 1/2" and is folded. Note that there is much conservation tape on the reverse of the poster. There is paper loss in the top left corner of the poster (mostly in the "A" of "AMAYA", and someone taped a piece of paper over the back of that area (likely to prevent it from further damage).

Condition: good.
