A 1955 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel Movie Poster (measures 39" x 55") (Learn More) Ladri di Biciclette (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "The Bicycle Thief" and in England as "Bicycle Thieves"), the classic 1948 Vittorio De Sica Italian neorealist melodrama ("Academy Award outstanding foreign language film 1949"; about a man and his son who search for a vital missing bicycle; most people rightfully consider this one of the handful of absolute finest movies ever made!) starring Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, Lianella Carell, Gino Saltamerenda, and Vittorio Antonucci. Note that the Italian title literally translates to "The Bicycle Thieves", but for unknown reasons, the movie became "The Bicycle Thief" when it was released in English-speaking countries! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Italian one-panel measures 39" x 55" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good to fine. The poster is linenbacked; prior to restoration the poster had only the most minor of wear on the foldlines and was in really excellent condition prior to linenbacking; note that the ends of the top and bottom of the linen of the poster were attached to wooden dowels (to allow the poster to be hung on the wall without being framed); the dowels are solely attached to the excess linen at the top and bottom and have no effect on the poster itself, which is in really excellent condition and looks wonderful!
