An Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Nancy Kelly was an actress from the 1920s to the 1970s. Born in Massachusetts to a showbiz mother who wanted to live through her daughter, she became a model and actress as a child, appearing in silent movies, and appearing on Broadway in "Macbeth" at the age of 8. When she became an adult, she signed with 20th Century-Fox and starred in several of their top movies in the late 1930s. She also worked on radio and on stage. She successfully transitioned from young sexy actress to playing older roles, and she created the memorable role of the mother of the murderous child in Maxwell Anderson's stage version of "The Bad Seed", and she recreated that role in the film version in 1956 (she was nominated for an Oscar). She then switched to television. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from a special set of "color glos" stills, which means it was printed on a photo type of paper and have a glossier front, with more vivid colors. This is something the studios experimented with in the late 1930s and early 1940s, for both 8x10 stills and 11x14 stills.
UPDATED 05/30/2014: Note that a knowledgeable collector identified this previously unknown actress as Nancy Kelly (possibly to promote the 1939 film "Jesse James") Condition: very good to fine. The still is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
