He was a stage actor who made many movies in the late 1930s and early 1940s, and his most memorable of these was as George in Of Mice and Men, and as Ernie Pyle in The Story of G.I. Joe. He was caught up in the McCarthy blacklist, and turned to television, where he had four very memorable appearances on The Twilight Zone, and later as The Penguin on the 1960s Batman TV show. Some of his other movie roles include: Rocky (in his nominated for Best Supporting Actor Academy Award role), Grumpy Old Men, Clash of the Titans, and Day Of The Locust (in his nominated for Best Supporting Actor Academy Award role). Note that the items in this lot are from the 1930s to the 1970s. We do not provide a list of these stills, but there are images of all of them (some of the stills do not identify either the movie or the people pictured). Condition: very good.
