eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2b349 UNCLE TOM'S CABIN 21x28 stage poster 1920s art of Eva dancing & shocked Aunt Ophelia, rare! Date Sold 11/27/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded Stage Play Poster (measures 21" x 28" [53 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Uncle Tom's Cabin, the circa 1900s stage play adaptation of Harriet Beecher Stowe's classic novel, which helped bring about the end of slavery and the Civil War, thanks to its depiction of the cruel treatment of African American slaves in the South. Note that we have seen posters from this stage play production that were dated from 1890 to 1930s. Posters from any stage production of Uncle Tom's Cabin are incredibly difficult to accurately date (unless they are dated, of course, but virtually none are). This is because there were endless stage productions of this play from 1890 on, all over the U.S. We have no doubt that companies would print posters that local touring companies would order, which would explain why they rarely had any credits of any kind, no doubt so they could be used by any touring company. So please keep in mind the possible wide dating range when bidding. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have auctioned a few different styles of stage posters for adaptations of Stowe's classic novel and most have an inset image in the upper corners of President Abraham Lincoln and author Harriet Beecher Stowe (like the poster offered here), however this is the FIRST time we have auctioned this style (with great art of Eva dancing with Uncle Tom and a shocked Aunt Ophelia)! We are also auctioning another rare style stage poster for this title in a separate auction. Condition: very good. The poster has a few areas of blank border loss at lower left and a few minor blank border defects, but overall, especially considering its age, it is in pretty nice condition!
