An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Deadly Mantis, the 1957 Nathan Juran Universal giant insect praying mantis science fiction (sci-fi) monster horror thriller ("This was the day that engulfed the world in terror!"; "The most dangerous monster that ever lived!"; "Out of a million years ago...a thousand tons of horror!"; "Shattering the icy shackles!"; "Hungering for human prey!"; "Dwarfing man's machines!"; "Jet planes can't stop him"; "Flamethrowers no avail!"; "Trapped by science!"; "This was the day that engulfed the world in terror!") starring Craig Stevens, Alix Talton, William Hopper, Florenz Ames, and Donald Randolph NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. My best guess is that the poster had very minor fold and border wear and was in excellent condition prior to linenbacking (it is also possible that the damage to the poster occurred prior to backing and that it was backed with no restoration, but it doesn't really matter in which order it occurred). At some point either before or after backing, some sort of vermin attacked the poster and caused some surface paper loss. It is mostly in the upper right, some in the yellow border, and some scattered in the background area around the mantis' arm. Fortunately, these areas are relatively small and mostly solely in background areas. Certainly, any talented restorer could perform touch up to those areas, and after that, the poster would look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
