During World War I (WWI), the paper was at the center of an intrigue involving the German government which was alleged to be attempting to gain influence in France and promote pacifist propaganda by buying French newspapers. But this page has been linenbacked, and it can be matted or framed for little money and makes a great inexpensive display!
