Croix Rouge Francaise - Vente de Guerre (literally translates to "French Red Cross - War Sale"), the 1916 French World War I (WWI) Home Front poster (with taglines that translate to "Union of Women of France"; "Recognized as a public utility [August 6, 1882] 16 Rue de Thann_Paris"; "For our wounded, our soldiers from the front, our prisoners, our reforms"; "Friday 8 Saturday 9 Sunday 10 December from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. in the salons of the Ministry of Public Works. 246 Bd St.Germain") encouraging citizens to make purchases at the war sale. Note that this poster features Georges Capon & Georges Dorival art of the Red Cross flag above a battlefield with barbed wire.
Artist: Georges Capon & Georges Dorival
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning!

Note that we were just consigned a wonderful collection of 59 war posters, most from World War II (which we are auctioning in 59 separate auctions)! Included in this collection are some posters we have never auctioned before, and some we have only auctioned once or twice before (sometimes only many years ago). This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain some or all of these historic posters, many of which have great images!).

Condition: good. The poster has rippling and discoloration scattered throughout (see our image). Fortunately it is otherwise "all there" and still is pretty colorful, and this is the kind of poster that responds really well to restoration. It is likely that much or most of the discoloration can be removed chemically, and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
