Also included are three vintage 8" x 10" movie stills (Learn More) Esther Williams was a former swimming and diving champion, who became an extremely popular actress from the 1940s to the 1960s, often, but not always, in MGM movies that showcased her swimming talents. Some of her movies include: Million Dollar Mermaid, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Dangerous When Wet, and Jupiter's Darling. She passed away in 2013 at the age of 91. Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Esther Williams! Apparently, Louella Parsons wrote a story in the newspaper praising Esther Williams, a "newcomer" (as Miss Williams referred to herself, having just made her debut in Andy Hardy's Double Life), and Miss Williams was so thankful that she wrote her this entirely handwritten letter, starting out "Although we have never met I want you to know how much I appreciated that grand story a few weeks ago"! Included with the letter are three vintage stills from 1950 and 1951. Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
