Vignola silent historical medieval knights royalty romantic love triangle melodrama ("Adapted by Luther Reed from Charles Major's novel"; "Settings by Joseph Urban"; "The picture of the century!"; set in 15th century France, Davies is a princess who is being forced into an arranged marriage for political reasons, and she runs away and poses as a commoner, and falls in love with a man who turns out to be her disguised true love!) starring Marion Davies ("in her biggest film success"; in the title role as Yolanda/Princess Mary), Lyn Harding, Holbrook Blinn (as King Louis XI of France), Macklyn Arbuckle, Johnny Dooley, and Ralph Graves NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good. The card was folded across the middle and there were rough creases and tears across that fold with many tears in the area of Davies' collar. There was a rough horizontal fold across the center of the title and the top 1/2" of the card was trimmed off. Some restorer paperbacked the card and did fairly substantial paint restoration to the above defects. You can see signs of the restoration and the card has a "restored" look.
