Date Sold 4/7/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Sisters of Eve, the 1928 Scott Pembroke romantic love triangle mystery melodrama ("A screen play of E. Phillips Oppenheim's novel 'The Tempting of Tavernake'"; a convoluted story of a young minister who is almost seduced by a beautiful young wife of a rich man, and he is "saved" from her by his faithful girlfriend; along the way, it is revealed that the beautiful wife keeps her husband high on cocaine so that he asks no questions, and at the climax of the movie, the minister and his girlfriend run off to a remote desert island!) starring Anita Stewart, Betty Blythe, Creighton Hale, Harold Nelson, and Francis Ford. Note that the story obviously has a Biblical parallel in the story of Adam being tempted by Eve, and the title of the source novel "The Tempting of Tavernake" was changed to "Sisters of Eve" to make the parallel more obvious. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine. The poster had an 8" tear in the bottom border (but no paper loss), and a few small tears in the bottom horizontal foldline, but otherwise only had very minor other fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
