Avildsen (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Philadelphia Pennsylvania boxing sports action romantic melodrama ("His whole life was a million-to-one shot."; "Written by Sylvester Stallone"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; produced by Irwin Winkler) starring Sylvester Stallone (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Rocky Balboa), Talia Shire (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Adrian), Burt Young (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Carl Weathers (as Apollo Creed), Burgess Meredith (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Mickey"), and Butkus Stallone (as Butkus the dog!). Note this film was released late in 1976 and all of the first release U.S. posters have a 1977 NSS number on them. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this TV poster measures 32 1/2" x 58 1/2" [83 x 149 cm]. We don't know exactly when it is from, but it is surely from the first TV showing of this Oscar-winning movie in 1979. We have been told that there is another version of the poster that has a "Sponsored by Datsun" area at the bottom, but we have never seen this poster, and we have seen several examples of this poster, so we know it was just made in two versions (our consignor received this poster when it was first created, and it is definitely not trimmed). Certainly, it is a wonderful poster to display on anyone's wall! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good to fine.
