Date Sold 10/15/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26" x 39") (Learn More) Come Back, Little Sheba, the 1953 Daniel Mann romantic love triangle alcoholism melodrama ("Based on the original play by William Inge"; about a recovering alcoholic and his plain wife, who take in a beautiful young boarder) starring Burt Lancaster, Shirley Booth (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Terry Moore (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Richard Jaeckel, and Philip Ober. Note that this movie had VERY unusual casting! Burt Lancaster seemed really miscast as a down and out alcoholic, and we imagine few people found it believable that he was married to Shirley Booth! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 26" x 39". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41". Condition: fair. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, likely both because the restorer did not do a good job at all, and because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had a long tear running through Booth's head and another through Jaeckel's face and body. There were tears and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines and some stains scattered in the poster. The poster was not well backed at all, because you can still see some or all of the defects generally described above (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects), and if there was restoration of the above defects, it was not done very well. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
