Leonard & Busby Berkeley breaking-into-show-business New York City Broadway theater stage romantic gambling musical ("Greatest musical extravaganza of all time!"; about three beautiful young women who get jobs working as showgirls for the famous Flo Ziegfeld, and the movie tracks their private lives, which are very different and very complicated) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr, Lana Turner, Edward Everett Horton, Tony Martin, Jackie Cooper, Ian Hunter, Charles Winninger, Philip Dorn, Al Shean, Eve Arden, and Leslie Brooks (uncredited in her first movie as one of the Ziegfeld Girls!). Note that MGM was famous for having "more stars than there were in Heaven", and because they were under contract by the week rather than by the movie, they could put them into multiple movies each year. How rare is it for a single Hollywood movie to have three female stars who became superstars (in this case, Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr, and Lana Turner), and of course, Jimmy Stewart also became a superstar! Lana Turner's signature is very clear, but Hedy Lamarr signed in some kind of red pen that appears to have faded significantly and is difficult to read (see our image).
