An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #7 (Spider Men) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Lost City (of the Legurian), the 1935 Harry Revier Africa science fiction (sci-fi) jungle safari action adventure serial ("High-Voltage Action! Electrifying Thrills! Thunderbolt Drama!"; "The picture that's 100 years ahead of its time!"; produced by Sherman S. Krellberg) starring William 'Stage' Boyd, Kane Richmond, Claudia Dell, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Josef Swickard, Ralph Lewis, Billy Bletcher, Eddie Fetherson, Gino Carrado, Jerry Frank "and 500 others!". Note that the chapter one-sheets of this serial have a tiny "of the Legurian", after the title, but we have no clue what that means or if that was in any way part of the official title. Also, as was common with 1930s serials, there was a regular feature version of this serial, condensing the material from all 12 chapters into a single feature-length film. But, in this case, there was also a second feature version, which solely used material from the first four and the last four chapters, eliminating the subplot covered in the middle four chapters entirely! We imagine that someone at that time looked at the entire serial and realized they could make a better feature version by eliminating the middle section, and they did so! Finally, we know that the movie was re-released as a feature in the 1940s by Goodwill Productions, but we don't know which of the two above feature versions was reused in the 1940s (probably 1942 or 1943, based on the litho number on the poster), but we do know that it was re-titled "City of Lost Men". If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had two evenly spaced vertical folds and two evenly spaced horizontal folds, with small paper loss at some crossfolds and tears and tiny paper loss along parts of each fold. It had some tears and tiny paper loss in parts of the boders. . Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone long ago mounted it into a thin linen and then glued it to a backing board. It was later removed, but there is dried glue residue over the back of the entire linen, and it is slightly "tacky". The poster is in urgent need of being removed from the old linen and properly mounted and restored, so bear all of this in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
