Youth of the World: We Wait For You in Cuba, the 1978 Cuban poster promoting the 11th World Festival of Youth and Students, and featuring Menede art of many people under a huge hat. The World Festival of Youth and Students is an international event, organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), a United Nations-recognized international youth non-governmental organization, jointly with the International Union of Students since 1947. The goal of the event is to sponsor global youth solidarity, and the largest gathering was in Pyongyang, North Korea in 1989 when 177 countries attended. The last event was held in Sochi, Russia in 2017.
