An Original 1956 (from the first release of this movie in Sweden) Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 39" [69 x 99 cm]) (Learn More) The Desperate Hours, the 1955 William Wyler crime hostage thriller ("Adapted from the novel and play by Joseph Hayes"; based on a real-life story of a family taken hostage in their own home by escaped convicts; the person whose life this was based on sued for invasion of privacy, but he was ruled a "public figure" by the Supreme Court, and this was the first such case, and now means that public figures have no ability to restrict invasion into their privacy!) starring Humphrey Bogart, Fredric March, Arthur Kennedy, Martha Scott, Dewey Martin, Gig Young, Mary Murphy, and Richard Eyer. An interesting piece of trivia is that the lawyer who defended the real life family in the Supreme Court case to try to preserve their right to privacy was Richard Nixon, later President of the United States! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from theater to theater, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. It had a very large tear at upper right, several creases scattered in various areas and the old linen has given it a somewhat rippled appearance. After proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
