An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Fighting Seabees, the 1944 Edward Ludwig World War II (WWII) United States Navy military romantic action thriller ("Romance of the Seven Seas") starring John Wayne, Susan Hayward, Dennis O'Keefe, William Frawley, Leonid Kinskey, J.M. Kerrigan, Grant Withers, Ben Welden, Duncan Renaldo, and Adele Mara (uncredited as Twinkles Tucker the Jitterbugger). Note that the Seabees were members of the United States Navy who were assigned to the Construction Battalion, and were called "C.B.", which was corrupted to "Seabees"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is extremely rare! We have only auctioned it once before, and that was in 2004, when it auctioned for $1,275. Perhaps this poster is so rare because the movie was re-released quickly in 1948 and then at least two times in the 1950s, and those re-releases probably used up whatever first release paper still remained. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases, tiny stains, and tiny bits of paper loss scattered in parts of the vertical fold, with a lesser amount on the horizontal folds. It had pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
