A Vintage Theatrical Folded Military One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) I Married a Monster from Outer Space, the 1958 Gene Fowler Jr. romantic science fiction (sci-fi) alien horror thriller ("Written by Louis Vittes"; about a woman who gets married to a somewhat odd man, and it turns out he has been possessed by an alien, and that they are preparing to take over the Earth) starring Tom Tryon, Gloria Talbott, Chuck Wassil, Maxie 'Slapsie Maxie' Rosenbloom, and Peter Baldwin. Note that this movie clearly "borrows" heavily from the plot of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which was released two years before (and that movie borrowed heavily from the Robert Heinlein novel "The Puppet Masters", which had been published in 1951). The makers of this movie did not have nearly the budget that Invasion of the Body Snatchers had, but they did the best they could with what they had to work with! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! This was found with a group of one-sheets that were from a California Air Force Base, and EVERY single one-sheet from that group were from 1958 (a few were from 1957)! It seems a certainty that someone at the Air Force base put them in a stack in 1958 and that they remained there for decades! There were seven of these military one-sheets that we are auctioning individually in this set of auctions, and there was a Vertigo military one-sheet which will be in our December Major auction, and also a number of much lesser ones which will be in our next bulk lot auction, and then there will be no more from this amazing find! This is a military one-sheet. Military one-sheets were printed at the same time as the regular U.S. one-sheets when the movie was first released. They were made to be used on U.S. military installations. Sometimes the poster has small writing at the bottom that says "For Distribution and Use at U.S. Military Establishments Only", and sometimes they just have "Litho in U.S.A." or "Printed in U.S.A." in small letters in the lower right or lower left. Condition: good to very good. The poster has faint "ghosting" in the white background areas, caused by the printing on the other half of the poster (because the poster was folded too soon). It was folded in half an extra time resulting in a vertical foldline at left and right and there is some separation at the lower left crossfold. There are several creases scattered in various areas.
