Date Sold 8/3/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Prizefighter and the Lady (released in other English-speaking countries as "Every Woman's Man"), the 1933 W.S. Van Dyke romantic love triangle nightclub boxing sports melodrama ("See Primo Carnera, Champion, and Max Baer, Contender in their first ring battle"; "Girls! There's a new passion in your life!"; about an unknown boxer who is discovered by an old-timer while working in a bar, and he becomes a heavyweight contender, and he meets the girlfriend of a gangster, and he marries her, but then she suspects him of being unfaithful, and she goes back to the gangster, and he turns to drink, but can he pull himself together in time for his championship fight?) starring Myrna Loy, Max Baer, Primo Carnera, Jack Dempsey, Walter Huston, and Otto Kruger. Note that, in a very reasonable casting move, MGM hired real-life heavyweight boxers Max Baer and Primo Carnera to play the stars of this movie, so that they would look realistic in their fight scenes! Max Baer apparently did a pretty good job acting, and a year after this movie was released, he had an actual championship fight against Primo Carnera, which he won by knockout! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a window card, a half-sheet, three different scene cards, and a few stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this lobby card! We are also auctioning an ultra rare title card in a separate auction. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The entire card has darkened somewhat. It has tack holes, smudges, and small stains around the edges. There are a few tiny stains scattered in the image, and a faint diagonal crease to the right of Kruger's head (see our images). This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the smudges and stains can be removed through chemical means, and of course, most of the pinholes are in the blank borders, and after proper restoration, the card will display well. Please look closely at our images of the front and back of this card before bidding. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
