An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Big Sleep, the classic 1946 Howard Hawks romantic crime film noir ("The picture they were born for!"; "A Warner hit!!!"; "From the novel by Raymond Chandler"; "Screen Play by William Faulkner, Leigh Brackett & Jules Furthman") starring Humphrey Bogart (as Philip Marlowe), Lauren Bacall, John Ridgely, Martha Vickers, Dorothy Malone, Louis Jean Heydt, Charles Waldron, Charles D. Brown, Bob Steele, Tom Fadden, Ben Welden, and Sonia Darrin. Note that not only did this movie have the direction of Howard Hawks and the great star power of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, but it also had the brilliant Raymond Chandler source novel, and a screenplay written by three great writers: Faulkner, Brackett, and Furthman! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Also note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us! So it is an original still from 1946, but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. There are two long diagonal creases in the top left and right (there is 1" of separation at the right end of the to right crease). There are small areas of surface paper loss and tiny dot stains in the top blank border. Fortunately, the stars' images are not affected by the above defects, and most would barely show of the still was framed. Learn More about condition grades
