Cinematographic Annual 1930, the 1930 illustrated book ("Published by The American Society of Cinematographers") featuring information about the latest technology used in the motion picture industry, including diagrams and photographs of different equipment. This is a really wonderful book, especially given that it came at the time when all studios were needing to switch completely from silent to sound, and there is a massive amount of information of all sorts contained within, including a great section called "The Nature of Sound". Interestingly, there is also a great section called "Motion Pictures in Natural Colors", even though it would be a number of years before color movies became at all common, and decades before black and white film was mostly abandoned! There are lots of great photographs throughout, of equipment and film locations, with tons of charts relating to photography. We don't know that this information is available anywhere else other than in this book. Finally, note that the book has "VOL I" on the spine, indicating the publishers thought it would be an annual publication, but we don't know if there were any others, because we have only auctioned this volume 1!
