An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) The Caddy, the 1953 Norman Taurog golfing sports screwball comedy ("Now they're goofy golfers... runnin' wild in high society!"; "Story by Danny Arnold") starring Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Donna Reed, Barbara Bates, Joseph Calleia, Fred Clark, and many of the top professional golfers of the day, appearing in cameos as themselves: Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Julius Boros, Jimmy Thomson, and 'Lighthorse' Harry Cooper! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had minor creases on the folds and pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster, and some smudges in the background areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
